They were talking about building a world by putting the millions of flickr photos in ‘place’ using additional positioning tags. Seems MS and Google have the machine power and the image ‘bubbles’ to be able to match the additional positioning stuff by machine after the geotagging is done. I probably remember because I gave the demo… It’s interesting to see how the big boys have implemented what we talked about all those years ago.

Would any other ad-agency or newspaper or online service get away with scraping images off Flickr and incorporate them into their own service?

The fact that this isn’t considered by most tech-coverage of this new Google/Flickr partnership is a punch to the face for online copyright.
