I would also recommend AroundMe for Android by Amélie Multimedia:
http://home.ameliemedia.com/aroundme-android/

It has been briefly reviewed by the Flickr staff on their blog (since it makes use of the Flickr API):
http://blog.flickr.net/en/2009/12/29/going-mobile/

This app allows you to discover amazing places nearby you or all around the world via Flickr, YouTube, Wikipedia and more.

Designed for Google Android-powered devices, it is aimed at travelers and photo-enthusiasts alike.

Among other things, AroundMe displays the most interesting Flickr, Panoramio and YouTube photos and videos of places nearby your current location (or in any other locations you point your finger to!), giving you the walking or driving directions to reach each place.

AroundMe can be downloaded for free from the Android Market, in the Applications > Travel category.

I remember a cool demonstration by some weird looking UK people on the day that Google announced Street View. They were talking about building a world by putting the millions of flickr photos in 'place' using additional positioning tags. Seems MS and Google have the machine power and the image 'bubbles' to be able to match the additional positioning stuff by machine after the geotagging is done. I probably remember because I gave the demo... It's interesting to see how the big boys have implemented what we talked about all those years ago.
