Links for 2006-11-28 - The Where Do I Shove My Tracklogs Edition

Got some tracklogs kicking around and into extreme sport (or not), why not share and enjoy? A selection of sites that allow you to upload tracklogs. If you have any more let me know in the comments, cheers.

  • Open Street Map
The best thing you can do with your tracklogs. Anytime you end up with a not off-road tracklog you should throw it here too, every little helps. OSM is creating free, public maps, created by the you for everyone.
  • GeoTracing: Trying to be a catch all tracklog uploader
A platform upon which other more specific tracklog sites can be built. I like the concept, but last time I tried it, it really felt like it could do with a whole bunch of polish.
  • Memory-map: tracklog sharing site.
I *think* this is tied to their own software, which AFAIKS is UK based [edit: nope, I just happened upon the UK version]. I keep seeing their software for sale in mapping shops and it includes incredibly detailed maps. So great for detail, but possibly too niche if you want to share via Google Earth?
  • Snowmobile Tracklogs
Snowmobiles your thing, then here’s a website just waiting for your tracklogs.
  • GPS Visualizer
The King/Queen of all tracklog sites. If you have tracklogs and don’t have anything better to do with them, throw them at this. Outputs in all sorts of formats.
  • Go Flying, upload tracklogs from your flights
Designed for keeping tracklogs of flights, members have enough storage space for about 150 tracklogs. So we have on the ground with bikes, above with planes, what about underwater? Any sites for scuba tracklogs, I want a repository of ship wreaks!
  • Everytrail: Another match your photos, notes, etc to your GPS Tracks
Fairly fresh and new this one. Wishes everyone would use flickr as the backend image storage and geotag the images (want to make it to 20 million photos by next spring)
  • mtbguru blog (which I assume to be MounTain Bike Guru)
Another (and good looking) match your photos with your GPS tracklog site, this is the blog about it. Because it has a useful and practical purpose and looks to have been going for a while, they have stuff pretty well worked out. See, nothing is new.
