Google Zeitgeist World Map

This crazy kids over at incom.org have created this great world map … oh wait, ah here it is …

My German isn’t so great so I’ve probably got this totally wrong, here goes. By scraping the “what’s hot” data from the Google Zeitgeist, from April through June last year (2006) for 40 countries, they created* a map showing which countries have been searching for what and when. They say they used 30 countries, but I’m not quite sure why you’d only use 30 when 40 are available, perhaps there was only 30 at the time.

*and when I say ‘created‘ I really mean ‘obviously went through a lot of sweat and hard work‘ to come up with a great poster. You should really go to the site and see the other images they have of it.

The UK as always seems to have been obsessed with Big Brother, see how useful this is!

For some unspecified reason, a current interest of mine is this world of “information aesthetics” which this seems to fall into amazingly well and also is why I totally found this link [via: information aesthetics]. A blog you should definitely not subscribe to, so I can continue to keep it as a source of wonderful finds (even though it ranks in the top 2000 on technorati, meaning you probably already have it)
